We aim to ensure that all sections of our community have access to Burnside Nursery through open, fair and clearly communicated procedures.

EYFS Key Themes and Commitments
Inclusive practice;  Respecting each other;  The learning environment; The wider environment Procedures

We ensure that information about Burnside Nursery is accessible, in written and spoken form and, where appropriate, in more than one language.

We arrange our waiting list and allocate places to the following criteria:
  • Date at which application was received
  • Siblings already attending the school
  • Children of parents who have expressed an intention for their child to attend all five daily sessions at Burnside Nursery
  • The vicinity of the home to the setting.
Burnside Nursery:
  • Welcomes parents, other relations, carers and childminders.
  • Has regard to children and their families’ needs arising from their gender, special educational needs, disabilities, social background, religion, ethnicity or from English being a newly acquired additional language.
  • Enables children and/or parents with disabilities to take part in the setting.
  • We make our Equal Opportunities Policy widely known.
  • We are flexible about attendance patterns to accommodate the needs of individual children and families, providing these do not disrupt the pattern of continuity in the setting that provides stability for all the children.
