At Burnside Primary School, keeping your personal information safe and secure is an essential part of our commitment to our school community. In line with our core motto—Be Safe, Be Smart, Be Kind—we treat the data you share with us with the highest level of care, respect, and confidentiality.

We comply fully with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. This page outlines how we collect, process, and protect personal data, alongside the statutory rights of our pupils, parents, staff, and governors.

Our Data Protection Officer (DPO)

To ensure we maintain the highest standards of data compliance, the school has appointed an independent Data Protection Officer. Our DPO monitors our data processing activities, provides staff training, and acts as a point of contact for the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

  • The Right to Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on your explicit consent to use data (for example, using your child’s photograph on our school website or social media), you can change your mind and withdraw this consent at any time by contacting the school office.

Paper copies of all our privacy notices and our full Data Protection Policy are available free of charge from the main school office. If you require this information in an alternative format to support accessibility requirements, please let our administration team know.
