About Us

Welcome to Burnside Primary School

I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of such a vibrant and forward-thinking school where pupils, staff, governors, parents, and the wider community work together to secure the very best outcomes for our children. We are committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning, achieved through a balance of challenge, adaptation, support, and encouragement, ensuring every child fulfils their potential and learns to be safe, be smart, and be kind.

At Burnside Primary, our curriculum is underpinned by evidence-informed practice. We work together to establish shared pedagogy and continuously invest in our team so that teaching and learning are consistently of the highest quality. We take immense pride in our Personal Development Curriculum, which underpins daily life at our school. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for our children to build a strong sense of self, develop a true sense of belonging, and understand what it means to be a responsible citizen locally and globally.

Inside Burnside Primary, you will find a welcoming, purposeful environment built on mutual respect. Our supportive pastoral systems help pupils achieve beyond their expectations and develop a deep sense of responsibility for themselves, their peers, and the wider world. A 'can do' attitude lies at the heart of our philosophy; we nurture creativity, encourage independent thinking, and show children that mistakes are simply valuable steps in the learning journey.

We are delighted to share that our excellent academic results consistently place us among the top 20% of primary schools in the country at the end of Key Stage Two. This reflects a steady trend of Burnside pupils performing significantly above the national average, a milestone we are immensely proud of as we continue to drive high standards for every child.
