At Burnside Primary School, emotional wellbeing is at the heart of our community. We are delighted to announce that our commitment to nurturing healthy minds has been officially recognised with the School Mental Wellbeing Award, accredited by Optimus Education.
Led by our Wellbeing Lead Teacher, Mrs. Akram, this award celebrates our whole-school approach to mental health. We ensure every child feels safe, valued, and equipped with the emotional tools to be safe, be smart, and be kind.
Our Commitment to Mental Health
Open Conversations: We teach children the language to express their feelings, build emotional resilience, and ask for help without stigma.
Proactive Support: Guided by Mrs. Akram, we offer tailored nurture support, mindfulness, and quiet spaces whenever pupils need extra care.
Community & Culture: We work closely with families to ensure a supportive environment where pupils can truly thrive, achieve, and belong.
Achieving this award reflects our daily promise: to ensure physical and mental wellbeing are treated with equal importance so every child can flourish at Burnside Primary.
