Polite Reminder - Drop Off and Collection times

Our staff are always happy to help and listen to parents and carers. However, we would like to remind you that at the beginning of the school day particularly, that the staff need to welcome all of the children into the classroom and ensure lessons start promptly.

We have received a number of complaints from parents who report they have waited in line outside of the classroom for prolonged periods of time due to the fact other parents are taking too much of the teachers time.

Should you have information that you would like your child's class teacher to know, please liaise with the staff in the school office who will pass on the information and get back to you with any responses required from the teacher.

Please be assured that the staff in the school office treat information in the same confidence as the rest of the staff.

On Friday 5th May, Creative Management will be providing a special menu to celebrate the King's coronation. This will be served instead of the usual menu, during lunchtime.

Lunch can be paid for in the usual way via the School Money APP

Cheese, Tuna, Cucumber or Egg Mayo

Cheese & Onion Puff

Colour Run

To celebrate King Charles III Coronation and make the event a day to remember for our children at Burnside Primary School, we are hosting a school Colour Run for all pupils from Year 1 to Year 6.

The Colour Run will take place on Friday 5th May.

The children will complete a route around school, whilst they are running they will pass colour stations where they will run through a colour cloud of red, white and blue powder.

It would be good if the children could wear an OLD white t-shirt and OLD leggings/ joggers/shorts and OLD shoes or trainers for the event. The powdered paint has a potential to stain clothes so please do not wear anything which is valuable or sentimental.

During the Colour Run there will be colour powder in the air, so it is important that all children MUST wear sunglasses during this event.

Please can you send a pair of sunglasses into school for this event with your child.  We want to create a memorable occasion for our children so they can recall the historic event of King Charles III Coronation.

If you do not wish your child to participate please inform the school office prior to the end.

Thank you in advance for your support

School SENDCO AND Monthly Clinics

It is now become almost impossible for Mrs Burnip to return all the calls and emails whilst she has her class to teacher. She often also finds herself offering the same advice to many individuals.

In order to continue to ensure parents needing support with general concerns similar to those outlined above, Mrs Burnip will be holding a monthly clinic. On occasions she may also invite a guest speakers to support parents.

The first monthly clinic will be held on Friday 5th May at 9am - 10am.

Strike Action 27th April and 2nd May

Proposed strike action on 27th April and 2nd May 2023 is a result of a dispute between national government and the teaching union NEU over teachers' pay and conditions. I understand this situation will cause families disruption and my staff have made these decisions with a heavy heart. I am sure you appreciate, industrial action is not an easy choice. Every member of staff is incredibly hard working and remains fully committed to the well being of pupils in school.

The situation is that the school will be partially closed.

Nursery Closed

Reception RC Closed

Reception RMS Open

Year 1R Closed

Year 1M Closed

Year 2A Open

Year 2T Open

Year 3B Open

Pupils who receive a benefits related free school meal may collect a lunch from the school office from 11.30am.

We are not providing remote education because teachers not taking strike action will be teaching their class and teachers who are striking will not be preparing/delivering lessons. Please be aware that staff are not required to inform me which union they are in or if they are indeed striking so there may be last minute changes. Our wrap around child care will be open as usual from 7.30am - 9.00am and then again from 3.00pm - 6.00pm. If you no longer require child care please cancel your place and a full refund will be given.

Once again , please accept my apologies for this difficult situation which I have no control over.
