Burnside Win the Trophy!!
We are thrilled to announce that during the Summer term, our Year 5 and 6 students have been wearing ‘Moki’ fitness trackers to monitor their activity levels.
These trackers not only counted their steps throughout the school day but also measured the intensity of their activity.
We are proud to share that Burnside School has been competing against other schools in Cramlington, and we have received the prestigious trophy for finishing at the top of the Moki league! 🏆
Congratulations to all our students for their dedication and hard work. Well done, Burnside! Let’s keep moving and staying active together! 💪

Family Picnic THANK YOU
Last night’s family picnic on the field was an incredible success, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who attended. The sense of community spirit was palpable, and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves in the beautiful sunshine.
A Special Shout-Out to Our Amazing Staff I’d like to extend a special thank you to our dedicated staff. Their unwavering support and enthusiasm made this event possible. Many of them graciously agreed to come back to work in the evening, ensuring that our family picnic was a memorable experience for all. Their commitment to our school community is truly commendable.
Appreciation Overflowing We’ve received numerous emails from parents expressing their thanks and gratitude. Your kind words mean the world to us. It’s heartwarming to know that our efforts are appreciated, and it motivates our team to continue creating meaningful experiences for our students and families.
Together, We Make a Difference Remember, it’s not just about the picnic—it’s about the bonds we share, the memories we create, and the sense of belonging that defines our school community. When our team feels appreciated, it fuels their passion to go above and beyond.
Thank you once again for being part of our wonderful school family. Let’s continue to celebrate these moments together!
Wheelie Wednesday
During today’s assembly, I had the pleasure of sharing some exciting news with the children. As we approach the end of term, we’ve decided to re- introduce “Wheelie Wednesdays”!
What is Wheelie Wednesday? On the next three Wednesdays, the outside perimeter of the school field will will be used as a track for bikes (and scooters). During lunch and playtime, children will have the opportunity to ride their bikes (or scooters outdoors, weather permitting).
.
Safety First: Helmets Required To ensure the safety of all participants, we insist that any child using their bike (or scooter) wears an appropriate safety helmet. Safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
It's Summer
I hope you're all enjoying the arrival of summer! ☀️
As the weather warms up, it’s essential to take precautions to protect our children from the sun’s rays. Here are a few reminders:
Sunscreen: Please ensure your child comes to school wearing sunscreen. Apply it before they leave home, and please, provide a small bottle for reapplication during the day. Sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher is recommended.
Hats and Caps: Encourage your child to wear a hat or cap outdoors. It provides an extra layer of protection for their face and neck.
Sunglasses: Sunglasses not only look cool but also shield their eyes from harmful UV rays. If your child has a favourite pair, feel free to send them to school with it!
Label Everything: To avoid mix-ups, kindly label all items—hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen—with your child’s name.
Let’s make this a safe and sun-smart summer for our little ones! 🌞
Thank you for your cooperation.

Transition
As we approach the end of the academic year, we are beginning preparations for the next step in our pupils’ educational journey. To ensure a smooth transition into the new school year, we have organised a special Transition Morning.
Date: Tuesday, 25th June 2024 Time: Morning Session
This is an excellent opportunity for your child to become acquainted with their new classroom and meet their teacher for the next academic year. We believe that by spending time in their new environment, the children will gain confidence and be well-prepared for the start in September.
Our school prides itself on the consistency of our lesson structures and the effectiveness of our behaviour policies. These elements are crucial in providing a stable and familiar framework for our students, which greatly aids in their adaptation to new settings and expectations.
During the Transition Morning, children will be registered with their current teacher before attending an assembly. Afterward, they will proceed to their new classrooms with their new teachers.
The session will conclude with children returning to their current teacher after lunch.
For our current Year 6 students, Mr Stokes and Mrs Shepherdson will conduct the morning activities.
We encourage you to discuss this upcoming change with your child to further ease the transition.
