We have an exciting programme of activities planned.

Please note as part of the Burnside Pupil Premium Passport pupils eligible for this grant receive free sessions during both term time and during the holidays. Free School Meals Eligibility Checker
Many of you may have heard in the news that from September, ALL primary aged pupils in LONDON are eligible for free school lunches.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has provided the funding to schools as an emergency cost of living support measure for parents.
At the moment in the UK if you have children at a state school in reception, year 1 or year 2 they are entitled to free school meals regardless of your household income. Should this offer be rolled out to the the rest of the country, which I hope it is, I will let you know IMMEDIATELY.
Raffle Tickets
The process of folding the returned raffle ticket counter foils has now begun!!!
If you have any tickets to submit for the draw which takes place at our coffee morning on Monday, please make sure they are returned to the school office BEFORE 9am on Monday to allow us the opportunity to fold and enter them into the draw.
The coffee morning starts at 9am and the raffle is scheduled to start to be drawn at 9.30am. Everyone is welcome so please feel to bring along friends and family.

The Big Sing
Today Burnside Choir took part in the Big Sing event at the Sage Gateshead.
Our children sang along with hundreds of other children from local schools accompanied by professional singers and musicians.
A fantastic experience and great fun was had by all.
Make A Wish
Well done everyone, our Cake Sale last week raised £394 for Make A Wish Foundation.
Not only did we raise lots of money for a great charity but the sheer delight and excitement from the children as they selected a cake and ate it with their friends was simply wonderful!!!

Football
Congratulations to the boys and girls from Year 4 that took part in the football competition at Cramlington Learning Village on Wednesday.
The children were brilliant and worked exceptionally hard, showing great teamwork and determination.
They showed super sportsmanship throughout and both teams came away with a well deserved win.
They didn’t lose a single match and should be very proud of themselves, I know all of the staff are immensely proud. Well done everyone!

Transition Morning Wednesday 12th July 2023
Children will come into school with their current teacher and be registered in the normal way. We will start the morning with an assembly and the children will leave the assembly with their new class teacher. After lunch the children will return to their current teacher.
Current Year 6
Miss Kelley and Mrs Shepherdson will take the current Year 6 for the morning.
School Lunch Increase
Unfortunately due to the significant inflation on food, our school catering company will have to increase the cost of school meals by 10p. Therefore from 1st September 2023 the cost of a school lunch will now be £2.40.

Year 6 Party at Airbox
REMINDER
Parents have organised a party for the Year 6 children at Airbox Bounce on Friday 14th July. Children need to arrive at Airbox for 3.40pm on Friday 14th for a safety briefing. Children in Year 6 can come into school on that day in their Burnside PE Kit to allow them to head straight to Airbox straight from school.

Year 2 Treehouse Art Project
Please can children bring into school, on Monday 10th July, a handful of twigs (approx 30 cm in length) and a handful of small stones (approx the diameter of a 10 pence piece). If you are unable to collect these over the weekend, there will be some available in school. We appreciate any help gathering the resources required.
